Development Victoria has sold its Fibre to the Home (FTTH) network. The network has been sold to RedTrain Networks Pty Ltd, an experienced and licensed provider that is expanding its investment in fibre infrastructure across Victoria.

The sale will not impact services to residents who will continue to receive services from their existing Internet Service Provider (ISP).

Development Victoria has been a wholesale provider of optical fibre infrastructure at several residential estates since 2009, providing retai lISPs with the network bandwidth they request to service their customers.

The FTTH network operates at the following residential estates: Aspect in Officer; Aurora in Epping North and Wollert; Riverwalk in Werribee; Valley Lake in Keilor East; Meridian in Dandenong; and Metro Village 3175 in Dandenong.

Development Victoria currently holds commercial agreements with two retail ISPs – iiNet and iPrimus – who deliver phone and internet services to residents serviced by the FTTH network. These agreements will be novated to RedTrain as part of the sale process. Following the sale of the network to RedTrain Networks, residents will have a greater choice of ISPs at these estates.

The network has been sold because operating a wholesale fibre network does not align with Development Victoria’s core urban renewal mandate. The sale and transition process is expected to be completed by the end of 2017.

For further information about your internet service please contact your internet service provider (iiNet or iPrimus).
