Through our Reconciliation Action Plan, we’ve committed to increase understanding, value and recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories, knowledge and rights through cultural learning delivered by a selection of First Peoples organisations.
One of these opportunities includes Aboriginal Cultural Awareness Training to listen, learn and connect.
Our team participated in training delivered by Willum Warrain Aboriginal Gathering Place on the Mornington Peninsula.
Willum Warrain CEO Uncle Peter Aldenhoven ran a full day of education, activities and reflection for our team.
Activities included Aboriginal Cultural Awareness training, participation in some cultural activities, volunteering in the nursery, a cook-up for lunch, weaving and more.
Organised by our First Peoples Partnerships team, this was a valuable opportunity for learning and reflection as we strive to become more culturally competent and celebrate First Peoples and their culture.
In our efforts to advance reconciliation and progress towards self-determination, we continue to improve the cultural safety of our organisation and elevating the capability of our team.
A huge thank you to Uncle Peter Aldenhoven, CEO who was an excellent and insightful host.
