Development Victoria is continuing to reimagine public places for the community to enjoy with the opening of the Powerful Owl Park – the new soccer facilities on Templestowe Road, Bulleen.
Under a glorious blue sky, the sun shone done on the official launch of Powerful Owl Park on Sunday, 11 August.
Residents and local sporting groups were able to enjoy the facilities, including the two natural turf pitches, the synthetic field and the newly completed pavilion and spectator seating.
Enclosed player benches will also provide protection from weather conditions on both the synthetic and natural turf pitches, and new electronic score boards are also in place!
The 176-space car park is fully asphalted with kerbs and channels installed.
Powerful Owl Park has also come to life with vast quantities of new native plants and trees including Golden Wattle, Spotted Gum, Native Violets, Coastal Rosemary and Tussock Grass. The Red Spotted Gum, a feature of the original area, has been protected and remains in place near the Balit-MukMuk Pavilion.
There is also a barbecue, bench seating, and walking paths to the Yarra River for the community to enjoy.
A new pedestrian crossing and footpath have been installed in front of the site to enable athletes and visitors to safely enter the facility when crossing Templestowe Road.
New streetlights and an upgraded intersection at Rosemont Drive and Templestowe Road will also improve safety when entering and exiting the precinct by car.
Powerful Owl Park was delivered by Development Victoria and North East Link Program, and will replace two soccer fields at Bulleen Park and the use of Bulleen Park Oval 1 for soccer.
Now that the facilities are open, local clubs can continue to thrive while North East Link construction is underway at Bulleen Park.
