Development Victoria is proud to honour the late John Weston through the annual award named after him.

John Weston gave more than 50 years of his life to serving the Victorian public and earned a reputation for professionalism, integrity and achievement across government and the construction industry.  He left an outstanding legacy, having worked as a Project Director on many major public projects such as the State Library refurbishment, the Melbourne Museum, the Melbourne Exhibition Centre, the National Gallery of Victoria, the Melbourne Recital Centre/MTC Theatre and the Melbourne Park redevelopment.

We’re proud to share that the recipient of this year’s award is Development Manager Ben Peach.

This is a peer nominated award that encourages recognition of our values of collaboration, innovation and delivery and shares accountability with all employees for building a unique and fulfilling culture.

When we began working from home in March, Ben played a leading role in the organisation and delivery of a Steps Challenge – an initiative from our Wellbeing Working Group that saw almost half of our organisation walk over 30 million steps.

“Ben has been a huge contributor to our culture and wellbeing, particularly throughout the pandemic. He goes above and beyond to support others,” said Angela Skandarajah, Chief Executive Officer of Development Victoria.

Ben has become an accredited Mental Health First Aider this year and is a strong advocate for mental health, raising over $3000 for men's health with our "DV MoBros" during Movember.
