The Ballarat community is invited to learn more about the exciting upgrades which are set to take place within the Ballarat Major Events Precinct as part of the Victorian Government’s Ballarat Sports Package.
Ballarat locals will have the opportunity to hear from the project team and City of Ballarat representatives on plans for the Precinct and the ongoing benefits for the local community.
Group Head Civic Infrastructure, Hannah Clement said Development Victoria is excited to give the community a chance to learn more about our plans for the Ballarat Major Events Precinct and the lasting benefits which will be delivered for the Ballarat community.
“We know how important it is to invest in sporting facilities across regional Victoria, ensuring that athletes and spectators alike have access to the same opportunities as sports-lovers living in metropolitan Melbourne,” said Hannah.
This project will ensure that the Ballarat Major Events Precinct continues to attract large crowds and encourage sports participation at all levels for the Ballarat community.
Concept designs for the Ballarat Major Events Precinct were released when the project was announced in April 2024 and will be discussed in further detail during these sessions.
The Victorian Government’s investment in Eureka Stadium (also known as Mars Stadium) and the broader Ballarat Major Events Precinct will see a new athletics track built on the former Ballarat Showgrounds site.
It will also see an additional 5,000 permanent seats at Eureka Stadium raising the seated capacity to 10,000, with improved accessibility access.
These upgrades will mean a bigger and better experience for spectators at Eureka Stadium for years to come and will ensure Ballarat continues to attract major sporting and live music events.
The upcoming community information sessions include an online webinar and two face-to-face drop-in sessions, where people will have an opportunity to chat with the project team and ask any questions.
Community members can join any of the sessions and can stop in any time for a chat during the drop-in session times. People interested in joining the online webinar must register to receive a link to the session.
