Victoria based regional property developer Birchmore has been appointed to transform sites 1, 3, 4 and 5 at Junction Place in the heart of Wodonga.

Birchmore will deliver short stay accommodation and a combination of mixed use and residential developments, including the delivery of approximately 200 homes, subject to planning approval, contributing to the transformation of central Wodonga and meeting the needs of the Wodonga community.

Acting Group Head Precincts, Ronan Mellan, said he is excited to share the plans for Junction Place with the community and is looking forward to working with Birchmore to bring the development to life.

While this was a long-awaited announcement, we know it was well worth the wait as Birchmore’s vision for the Junction Place precinct will greatly benefit the Wodonga community.

“Now we can get on with delivering vital community infrastructure in the precinct while supporting the delivery of much needed homes in the region.”

More than $30 million has already been invested by the Victorian and Federal Governments along with the City of Wodonga to restore and repurpose Junction Place’s historic railway station and goods shed into restaurants and cafes and delivered public spaces including the Promenade, Junction Square, Sidings Park and Richardson Park.

The project will support more than 1,000 local jobs and boost economic growth in the northern Victorian city.

Birchmore will now progress with the next phase of the project, being detailed technical design underpinned by an early public consultation process.

Development Victoria is continuing to work through the appointment process with the preferred parties for site 2, with an announcement expected later in the year.
