An Expression of Interest (EOI) has opened for 10 government-owned sites across Victoria as part of the Small Sites Program.

Four more sites have now been added to the list announced earlier this year, with new opportunities in Brighton, Camberwell and Preston joining sites in Croydon South, Carlton, Heidelberg West, Baxter, Bendigo and Geelong.

Acting Executive General Manager Investment and Portfolio Management, Alex Kennedy, said the program is creating opportunities to deliver more housing in established suburbs.

These sites build on the release of the Small Sites Pilot in July 2024, which included four sites in Alphington, Malvern, Preston and Coburg.

Ideally located close to jobs, education, transport and essential services, the sites have the potential to deliver around 700 homes, with at least 10 per cent affordable housing outcomes.

“We’re seeking experienced developers to deliver much needed housing on these sites, which may include a mix of housing types.”

The housing delivered will be determined by the successful developers and may include townhouses and low- to mid-rise apartments.

Development Victoria is leading the EOI process in partnership with the Department of Transport and Planning.

In total, 14 parcels of land are now in program, with potential to deliver up to 1,000 new homes across Victoria.
