Development Victoria CEO Angela bids farewell as Joanne steps into acting role

Development Victoria announces that Angela Skandarajah completes her tenure as Chief Executive Officer.

After seven years with the organisation - five of those as CEO - we bid a fond farewell to Angela and reflect on her significant contributions and lasting legacy.

Since joining in 2017, Angela has been instrumental in delivering some of Victoria’s most significant projects, including Galkangu – Bendigo GovHub, the State Basketball Centre upgrade, Melbourne Park Redevelopment and the Geelong Art Centre.

Reflecting on her time with us, Angela said;

Angela will be remembered not only for her work across our project portfolio but also for her people-first leadership style, and championing wellbeing and inclusion within Development Victoria. As well as improving project outcomes, her belief in diverse perspectives has also strengthened the organisational culture.

She has helped make Development Victoria a place for all people, with 50% gender equity and reducing our gender pay gap to less than 1%. Angela has also promoted an inclusive place for all cultures and a deep commitment to better outcomes for First Peoples.

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Joanne Wandel as Acting Chief Executive Officer, while recruitment is underway.

A respected leader, trusted within our organisation and industry, Joanne brings a wealth of experience to the role of Acting CEO.

In a career spanning almost three decades leading construction and major projects in the public and private sector, Joanne has led some of Victoria’s largest public infrastructure, urban renewal and housing projects.

As Development Victoria’s Chief Development Officer, Joanne has leveraged partnerships across the public and private sector to identify new business opportunities and deliver on government policy and meet community needs.
