The Victorian Government is another step closer to delivering a legacy of new and upgraded sporting facilities for the Ballarat community ahead of the Victoria 2026 Commonwealth Games.
An Advance Tender Notice (ATN) has been released for a main works contractor to complete the upgrade to Ballarat’s Eureka Stadium.
The $150 million investment to upgrade Ballarat’s Eureka Stadium will see a range of significant improvements. A new athletics track will be built at the site and the stadium will be expanded to hold an additional 5,000 permanent seats, with improved accessibility.
These upgrades will mean a bigger and better experience for spectators at Eureka Stadium in the years to come, ensuring Ballarat continues to attract major events.
For the Commonwealth Games, additional temporary seats will be installed as well as a competition standard track on the existing playing field.
The ATN for main works at Eureka Stadium includes civil and earthworks, construction of athletics tracks, carparking, sports lighting and associated amenities.
It will be followed by an Expression of Interest process opening in May 2023.
Interested parties will be able to register via the Buying for Victoria website from which a shortlist of contractors will be invited to participate in a Request for Proposal process.
Development Victoria is a key delivery partner for the sports infrastructure required to host events.
It is estimated the Games will contribute more than $3 billion to Victoria’s economy, creating more than 7500 jobs before, during and after the Games.
