Exciting new upgrades to Bendigo Stadium have reached a key milestone, with Fairbrother Pty Ltd appointed as head contractor to deliver major improvements to the city’s premier indoor sports venue.
Part of the Victorian Government’s Regional Sports Infrastructure Program, the upgrades will boost the Stadium’s capacity to host community sport and events all year round.
Fairbrother brings more than 50 years of experience to the project and a strong track record of delivering major builds across regional Victoria, including the Bendigo Art Gallery and Galkangu - Bendigo GovHub.
The upgrades include the construction of two new courts, refurbishment of courts 9 and 10, 200 lux lighting for the 12 outdoor netball courts, and sustainability features such as solar panels and a backup generator. Carpark and accessibility improvements will also be delivered, making it easier for players and spectators to access the stadium.
Construction is set to commence in September 2025, with works expected to be completed by late 2026.
Hannah Clement, Executive General Manager Civic Infrastructure at Development Victoria, said the appointment of a head contractor is an important step forward for the project.
Fairbrother has a deep understanding of the Stadium and the region, and we’re pleased to be working with them again to deliver improved sports facilities for Bendigo’s growing community.
This project is being delivered by Development Victoria on behalf of Sport and Recreation Victoria, and has involved close collaboration with the City of Greater Bendigo and Bendigo Stadium Limited. This will ensure that Bendigo Stadium continues to provide great sporting facilities for the local community and deliver positive outcomes for the region.
