The Twelve Apostles Precinct Redevelopment has reached a major milestone, with the head contractor for the new Visitor Experience Centre announced today.
Kane Constructions has been appointed to deliver the new Twelve Apostles Precinct Redevelopment, allowing the project to move into the construction phase in the new year.

Along with a new Visitor Experience Centre, the project will also include integrated car and bus parking, landscaping works, and new road infrastructure and upgrades.

Development Victoria Acting Group Head Civic Infrastructure Benjamin Delaney said the appointment of the head contractor is a significant milestone for this project.

We are excited to be delivering this tourism infrastructure project to provide upgraded facilities and services as visitor numbers to the iconic Twelve Apostles continues to increase.

A Welcome Garden will celebrate the cultural and environmental values of Eastern Maar’s community by aligning the Precinct design with Eastern Maar’s ‘Caring for Country Plan’.

A universally accessible Visitor Experience Centre rooftop lookout will offer breathtaking views over the coastline.

The project is working with Kane Constructions and the Victorian Industry Capability Network to promote opportunities to small and medium businesses to get involved in the project. More than 70 people recently attended an industry briefing in Camperdown to learn how to get involved in the project.

The project is expected to provide employment for the equivalent of 90 full-time positions during the redevelopment and at least 70 jobs created through the planning, project management and design phases of the project. The new visitor experience centre will also create at least 50 ongoing jobs upon opening.

The redevelopment is funded by a $126 million investment from the Australian and Victorian Governments, through the Geelong City Deal, a collaborative plan across three levels of government to transform Geelong and the Great Ocean Road region.
