Exterior of the new centre, includes building and parkland

Exciting progress is underway for the Armstrong Creek Sports Centre, with the Victorian Government announcing Fairbrother Pty Ltd as the head contractor to deliver the region’s newest sports facility.

Designed by Warren and Mahoney Architects, the new centre will feature four indoor multi-sport courts, a café and gathering space, modern changing facilities, a sensory room, and car parking with electric vehicle charging.

Opening onto a vibrant civic plaza, the centre will also include outdoor activation areas, basketball and netball hoops, spaces for skating and parkour, informal play areas, table tennis tables, and a large, landscaped lawn suitable for hosting community events.

Sustainability is a key focus, with the facility registered to receive a Five Star Green Star certification.

Construction is scheduled to commence in April 2025, with completion expected late 2026.

Benjamin Delaney, Acting Group Head Civic Infrastructure at Development Victoria, said the appointment of Fairbrother Pty Ltd is a major step forward for the project.

Securing Fairbrother as the head contractor is an exciting milestone that will bring this much anticipated project to life. The new Armstrong Creek Sports Centre will provide much-needed new community sporting facilities while also creating new jobs, supporting local suppliers, and boosting the local economy throughout construction.

Development Victoria is delivering eight new and upgraded sporting infrastructure projects across regional Victoria over the coming years, bringing locals exactly what they want and need, attracting visitors to the regions, and providing opportunities for local businesses through the delivery of these projects.

This project is being delivered by Development Victoria in partnership with Sport and Recreation Victoria and the City of Greater Geelong to ensure the sports centre caters to the local community and delivers positive outcomes for the region.

The Armstrong Creek Sports Centre will also receive a $6 million funding contribution from the Australian Government.
