The Armstrong Creek Sports Centre is gaining momentum, with fresh details and brand-new renders now released for the new multi-sport facility which is being delivered for the Geelong community.
The sports centre will feature four indoor multi-sport courts, a café and gathering space, changing facilities, and a sensory room. There will also be a civic plaza with outdoor activity spaces and plenty of open areas to enjoy, plus parking, including spaces with electric vehicle charging.
The outdoor space is designed for fun and activity, with basketball and netball hoops, areas for skating and parkour, informal play areas, nature play spaces, and even table tennis!
The centre is registered to receive a Five Star Green Star certification, showing its commitment to sustainability.
Designs for the new sports centre have been prepared by Warren and Mahoney Architects, and have involved an ongoing co-design process with Wadawurrung Traditional Owners Aboriginal Corporation.
Development Victoria’s Acting Group Head Civic Infrastructure, Benjamin Delaney, said that the new sports centre will be an exciting addition to the growing suburb of Armstrong Creek and the broader Geelong community.
We are really looking forward to delivering this new facility in Armstrong Creek, which will provide a fantastic new space for community sport, while also creating employment opportunities for the Greater Geelong region during delivery.
This centre is part of three exciting projects happening in the Geelong region, made possible by the Victorian Government’s Regional Sports Infrastructure Program – with 16 new and upgraded projects in total across the state.
Development Victoria is delivering eight of these regional sporting infrastructure projects, bringing locals exactly what they want and need – right on their doorstep – while attracting visitors to the regions and providing opportunities for local businesses to get involved through the delivery of these projects.
The project is being delivered in partnership with Sport and Recreation Victoria, and has involved close collaboration with the City of Greater Geelong to ensure the sports centre caters to the local community and delivers positive outcomes for the region.
A procurement process is currently underway for a Head Contractor to deliver the Armstrong Creek Sports Centre, with three contractors shortlisted as the result of an Expression of Interest process which commenced earlier this year.
Suppliers who are interested in providing goods or services for this project, should register their details on the ICN Gateway Page.
