Civil construction has started on the ‘Alfie’ residential development project in Altona North, which is set to deliver diverse and affordable housing in Melbourne’s inner west.

Delivered by Development Victoria, ‘Alfie’ features 127 two, three and four-bedroom townhouses, with 10 per cent of the homes reserved for affordable housing.

Development Victoria’s Group Head Property Development, Neil Anderson said ‘Alfie’ was an excellent example of the innovative housing solutions being delivered to meet the needs of Victorians.

“Housing affordability and diversity is a key issue for Victorians and Development Victoria is delivering a range of innovative residential developments across Melbourne,” he said.

“It is exciting to see this project come to life and we look forward to welcoming residents to a new community close to schools, facilities and connections to the CBD.”

The 2.4-hectare site on Blackshaws Road in Altona North is being developed to reflect the heritage of the area, with a key feature being a central park within the development.

The park will be a focal point for new residents and will provide a protected and landscaped open space for active and relaxing recreation.

Mr Anderson said Development Victoria has collaborated with Max Architects and MDG Landscape Architects to design the diverse housing on offer.

“It has been great to see a range of architectural designs including contemporary spaces, natural light and generous-sized living spaces, integrated with quality finishes.

“The project is a great example of how Development Victoria can provide a variety of housing options, while still delivering high quality and contemporary designs.”

Multipro Civil Pty Ltd has been appointed as the civil contractor for the project following a competitive tender process, with civil construction expected to take just over 12 months.
