Cinema and Entertainment Complex

Construction of Wodonga’s first cinema and entertainment complex will commence at Junction Place in mid-2019, following approval of the plans by the City of Wodonga last night.

The cinema and entertainment complex will be delivered by local developer Central Place, in partnership with United Cinemas and will include a 10-screen cinema with more than 2,000 seats, an events/entertainment/amusement centre, restaurants and other food and beverage outlets.

Development Victoria’s General Manager Precincts Simon Wilson said the project will create jobs, activate the Junction Place precinct day and night, and provide a significant boost to the local economy.

“The United Cinemas/Central Place joint venture will transform the city centre of Wodonga into a vibrant precinct with enhanced economic, cultural and community facilities,” Mr Wilson said.

“The planning approval is a positive milestone for Junction Place and a further show of confidence from Council and the Wodonga community in what will be a game-changing project for the regional city. We look forward to seeing construction start on Wodonga’s first cinema and entertainment complex.”

The approval has also been embraced by Clinton Williams from Central Place and Sam Mustaca from United Cinemas, with construction timelines set for mid-2019.

“We are excited to be delivering the first cinema complex in Wodonga and appreciate the support of the Council in getting this project off the ground,” Sam Mustaca said.
