Works are now underway on the Stead Park Hockey Facility redevelopment in Corio, bringing modern new facilities to one of Geelong’s most important sporting venues.

Fairbrother Pty Ltd has been appointed as head contractor to deliver the project. The nationally award-winning builder has more than 50 years’ experience and has completed major projects across regional Victoria, including the Bendigo Stadium expansion and Galkangu – Bendigo GovHub.

The redevelopment will include a new two-storey pavilion between the two hockey pitches with player and officials’ change rooms, a canteen, storage, and first aid facilities on the ground floor. The upper level will feature a social space, meeting room, kitchen and terrace seating overlooking the pitches.

Upgrades to the western pitch will deliver a new playing surface, fencing, drainage, sports lighting and an electronic scoreboard, while additional car parking and a new access road will improve access for players and spectators.

Works are expected to be completed in late 2026.

Hannah Clement, Executive General Manager Civic Infrastructure at Development Victoria, said the redevelopment will provide modern, inclusive facilities for the local hockey community.

These upgrades at Stead Park will allow Geelong’s hockey community to continue to grow while supporting local jobs and boosting the regional economy.

This project is being delivered by Development Victoria on behalf of Sport and Recreation Victoria, and in partnership with the City of Greater Geelong.

The project is fully funded through the Victorian Government’s Regional Sports Infrastructure Program. In addition, close collaboration has also occurred with Hockey Geelong and Hockey Victoria to ensure the Stead Park upgrades cater to the local community and deliver positive outcomes for the region.
