Green and blue hockey court

Big things are happening at Corio’s Stead Park.

The redevelopment of the hockey facilities at this much-loved sports venue has hit an exciting milestone, with Development Victoria now seeking a head contractor to bring the new pavilion and upgraded pitch to life.

The Expression of Interest (EOI) process has officially commenced, inviting contractors to deliver the exciting upgrades that will strengthen Stead Park’s reputation as a premier hockey destination.

The project is set to provide a significant boost to the local economy by creating jobs and supporting local businesses. As part of the EOI process, prospective contractors are required to outline how they will engage local suppliers, workers, and businesses in the delivery of the project.

The new pavilion, to be located between the venue’s two pitches, will include four change rooms, match officials' rooms, a canteen, storage spaces, and a first-aid room on the ground floor. Upstairs, a social space, meeting room, kitchen, and a terrace overlooking the pitches will create an inclusive space for the community to enjoy.

The western pitch will also be upgraded, including new fencing, drainage, sports lighting, and an electronic scoreboard, ensuring it’s ready for national-level events. Additional parking and a new access road will make the venue more accessible for players and fans alike.

This redevelopment will deliver modern, accessible facilities for the local hockey community while investing in the region and creating opportunities for local businesses.
