Development Victoria is supporting the delivery of social housing in the south-east by selling one of its sites in the Revitalising Central Dandenong precinct to Launch Housing, one of Victoria's largest community housing and homelessness organisations.

Launch Housing is partnering with Homes Victoria to deliver 70 new energy efficient and environmentally sustainable social housing homes, meaning more families in the south-east will have access to secure housing.

The development plans provide for 40 one-bedroom and 30 two-bedroom apartments, delivering much-needed housing options for people on the Victorian Housing Register, with a focus on people on very low incomes. In addition, at least seven of the homes will be allocated to First Nations residents.

Executive General Manager Precincts, Niall Cunningham, said the goal of Revitalising Central Dandenong is to create an economic hub with new community spaces and facilities to bring more people back to central Dandenong.

Over the past ten years, we have facilitated development opportunities that will help Dandenong’s growing community thrive for years to come.

“We’ll continue to support development opportunities throughout the precinct to transform central Dandenong into a vibrant and thriving economic and community hub.”

The precinct is within walking distance of the Dandenong Markets, Dandenong Railway Station and bus stops, and is close to shops, schools, parks and other essential services.

The Revitalising Central Dandenong precinct has been divided into 19 separate sites, and Development Victoria is progressively developing these sites in partnership with the private sector.
