Momentum is building on site at Galkangu – the new Bendigo GovHub, with construction now well advanced as work on the façade continues, and the interior starts to take shape.

Galkangu [pron: gull-kang-gooh] is a Dja Dja Wurrung word, meaning “build together, we make together, make things happen together, more connected to Country.”

As one of Victoria’s three GovHubs, Galkangu will accommodate up to 1,000 City of Greater Bendigo and Victorian Government workers - creating a one-stop-shop for customers while building a stronger and collaborative public sector presence in Bendigo.

Progress update

Roughing in of services, plastering, and the integration of walls and doorways are beginning to bring the interior of the building to life.

From inside the building, you can see the internal tiered courtyard which is now taking shape, and will allow plenty of natural lighting into each level of the building.

Site tours

In July, representatives from the City of Greater Bendigo toured the site to get a feel for their new workplace. The two groups of leaders and supervisors were led through Galkangu by Icon Fairbrother and Regional Development Victoria project managers.
