Unlocking prime land in Ballarat for future jobs and housing

Development Victoria is helping to unlock land at the former Ballarat Saleyards to enable future redevelopment opportunities.

The site will undergo important remediation works due to its historical use as a livestock exchange.

Chief Development Officer Joanne Wandel said once remediated, the site has the potential to support much needed jobs and increase housing supply in Ballarat.

Once remediation activities are completed, the project has the potential to deliver a new employment precinct and, in the longer term, new homes to support the growing needs of the Ballarat region.

The strategic planning for the future use of the site will be led by the City of Ballarat, with support from Development Victoria to facilitate urban renewal and a mixed-use precinct development.

Development Victoria will facilitate the remediation of the site, with works commencing later this year.
