Regional Victoria - four hubs: Ballarat, Bendigo, Geelong and Gippsland

Overview

The Commonwealth Games are coming to Victoria – bringing an action-packed sports program to our regional cities and delivering a long-term legacy for our future.

From 17 to 29 March 2026, Geelong, Bendigo, Ballarat, Gippsland and Shepparton will be on the world stage, attracting millions of viewers and thousands of jobs.

Development Victoria is a key delivery partner for the sports infrastructure required to host events, along with the four Games villages that will welcome athletes and team officials at the regional hubs.

Over the next four years, we will be working closely with government, industry and the community through the planning and delivery process.

There will be a range of opportunities for Victorian businesses and contractors to get involved in delivering Game infrastructure across the regions, and we encourage any interested parties to monitor the Buying for Victoria portal which is where these opportunities will be advertised.

The Victorian Government expects to create more than 600 jobs before the Games, 3900 jobs during the event and a further 3000 jobs following – more than 7500 jobs in total.

The infrastructure we create will help to leave a lasting legacy for Victorians, through the creation of additional housing across regional Victoria, and world-class sports facilities to inspire the next generation of local athletes.

The Games will also recognise and celebrate the unique history and cultures of First Peoples. These stories are part of our collective identity as Victorians.

Visit the Victoria 2026 website for more information about the Victorian Government’s vision for the Games.
