Overview

Construction is now underway on the new Armstrong Creek Sports Centre as part of the Victorian Government’s Regional Sports Infrastructure Program.

Delivered by Development Victoria on behalf of Sport and Recreation Victoria, the new multi-sport facility will cater to the growing Armstrong Creek community, creating more opportunities for participation, connection, and recreation.

The facility will include:

  • four indoor multi-sport courts
  • civic plaza with outdoor activation spaces and open areas
  • a café and gathering space
  • car parking with electric vehicle charging stations.

The Civic Plaza will connect the Armstrong Creek Town Centre with the future public transit station, providing a welcoming and accessible open space for community activity and events.

Through collaboration with the Wadawurrung Traditional Owners Aboriginal Corporation, the design celebrates Wadawurrung culture, stories and connection to Country, guided by the Narrative of Place - Dooliebeal, meaning “place of River Red Gums.”

The project will deliver lasting social, environmental and economic benefits for the region, supporting local jobs and sustainable growth.

Construction began in 2025 and is expected to be completed in late 2026.

Community engagement

In October 2024, the Geelong community was invited to a series of information sessions, including two drop-in sessions at Biyal-a Armstrong Creek Library and an online webinar, to learn more about the plans for the new facility.

These sessions provided opportunities to view designs, ask questions, and share feedback, which helped inform the final planning and design stages.

We thank everyone who participated and contributed to this exciting project for Armstrong Creek.
