Overview
Construction is now underway on upgrades to the Gippsland Sports and Entertainment Park in Morwell, as part of the Victorian Government’s Regional Sports Infrastructure Program.
Delivered by Development Victoria on behalf of Sport and Recreation Victoria, the project will transform the venue into a modern, multipurpose hub for sport, community activity and live entertainment in the Latrobe Valley.
The upgrades will include:
- a new pavilion with change rooms, amenities and social spaces
- a new change pod
- redevelopment of 2 turf pitches with upgraded lighting and player facilities
- a new synthetic pitch
- additional car parking and improved accessibility
- enhanced landscaping and spectator areas.
These upgrades will improve facilities for local clubs and visitors, increase capacity for regional and national events, and support local jobs and businesses throughout construction.
Construction began in 2025 and is expected to be completed in late 2026.

In March to April 2025, the Latrobe community was invited to a series of information sessions, including a drop-in sessions at Gippsland Sports and Entertainment Park and an online webinar to learn more about the plans for the new facility.
These sessions provided opportunities to view designs, ask questions and share feedback, which helped inform the final planning and design stages.
