Overview

Construction is now underway on upgrades to the Morwell Gun Club, as part of the Victorian Government’s Regional Sports Infrastructure Program.

Delivered by Development Victoria on behalf of Sport and Recreation Victoria, the project will deliver modern and safe facilities that support participation, sport and local events in the Gippsland region.

The upgrades will include:

  • two Olympic trap shooting trenches and shooting stations
  • a new armoury
  • a maintenance shed
  • improved accessibility with DDA Car Parking
  • upgrades to Electricity Supply.

These improvements will provide a high-quality and safe venue for both community and professional use, helping to attract events and training opportunities while supporting local jobs and businesses during construction.

Construction began in 2025 and is expected to be completed in early 2026.

FAQs

Upgrades include new shotgun trap shooting ranges, new safety fencing, armoury, maintenance shed, improved car parking and accessible facilities.

Development Victoria is delivering the project on behalf of Sport and Recreation Victoria.

Construction commenced in 2025 and is anticipated to finish in early 2026.

The upgrades will help increase participation, support local events while improving safety and accessibility.

There is no planned removal of trees or vegetation on the site.

Traffic management will be in place to minimise disruption as required. Additionally, the Project Team are working closely with the Morwell Gun Club to minimize operational impacts during the construction.

Additional accessible parking is included in the project scope, providing improved access for visitors and competitors.
