Overview

Taylors Quarter is a residential subdivision of 171 lots, and is the final major land release in Taylors Lakes.

It has great access to schools, the freeway, and is a 10 minute walk to Watergardens Shopping Centre and train station.

The 9.1ha site was purchased by the Department of Education and Training (DET) in the early 1990s for a school. However it was never used for this purpose, and remained vacant land.

In 2013 it was declared surplus by DET, and rezoned, enabling Development Victoria to acquire the site, and subdivide the land for new housing.

The development will also deliver a new park along McCubbin Drive that's being designed in consultation with council and the local community.

Taylors Quarter is an EnviroDevelopment certified project — a nationally-recognised achievement from the Urban Development Institute of Australia. The certification recognises outcomes across six areas of sustainability: water, ecosystems, community, waste, materials and energy.

Community

Development Victoria engaged with the Taylors Lakes community in late 2017 to provide information and seek the community’s views on the site’s proposed subdivision and park design.

During engagement, a number of local residents suggested it would be desirable to have larger blocks on McCubbin Drive to create an improved interface with existing housing.

In response, larger sized lots have been incorporated into the master plan, while approximately 20% of the lots are proposed to be less than 300m2 in size.
