Overview

Development Victoria is unlocking land at a vacant site in Mount Duneed, Geelong to help deliver much-needed homes.

Plans are progressing to deliver around 400 new homes, of which approximately 20% will be allocated as social and affordable housing in partnership with Homes Victoria.

Formally known as Waurn ponds Residential, the site is well located south of Waurn Ponds Railway Station and close to a wide range of retail, education, community and leisure facilities.

Development Victoria is working closely with key stakeholders - including the City of Greater Geelong and the Wadawurrung Traditional Owners Aboriginal Corporation (WTOAC) - to ensure the project meets the needs of the local community.

Next steps

A planning permit for subdivision of the southern site was obtained from the City of Greater Geelong Council in September 2025. We are currently seeking the necessary pre-construction approvals to progress development on the southern parcel of land.

Civil works are expected to commence in early 2026, subject to relevant planning approvals being obtained.
