Marvel Stadium’s upgrade making Docklands a league of its own

The redevelopment of Victoria's Marvel Stadium in Docklands has been unveiled heralding a new era of sport and arts entertainment for the state.  

As part of the $225 million investment by the Victorian Government, the upgrade has delivered greatly improved fan amenity, access and gathering spaces at the stadium. 

Stadium Square is a versatile all-weather public space adorned with shops, bars, and restaurants. Equipped to host community events and markets throughout the year, the Square includes permanent bars and restaurants that will enliven the concourse and the fan experience of arriving at the Stadium.  

City Edge provides a new entry point on the eastern side of the stadium and offers member services and new shops, bars and restaurants that overlook the CBD’s skyline. 

The transformation will position Marvel Stadium as a world-class venue which is set to host a packed calendar of events all year round. 

Over 1,500 jobs were generated throughout the stadium upgrade, bolstering the local economy and supporting Victorian suppliers under the Government's Local Jobs First initiative.  

Marvel Stadium's transformation promises an enhanced experience for visitors and locals and will have a positive impact on the Docklands precinct and local economy. It will also provide better linkages between the entire Docklands precinct and Melbourne’s CBD. 

Development Victoria’s Group Head Precincts, Niall Cunningham said the upgrade to Marvel Stadium will be a huge drawcard to Docklands, benefiting local businesses and the community. 

“With the completion of the upgrade, Docklands is primed for a vibrant future, firmly focused on enhancing the visitor experience and fostering enduring community connections," he said.
