Development Victoria is delivering on its commitment to provide affordable housing and new communities in Melbourne’s south-east with a new residential estate a step closer to welcoming its first residents.
The Olio project in Officer will include a range of two, three and four-bedroom townhouses, delivered by Sienna Homes, in a fast-growing suburb close to a future town centre and community spaces.
Residents are expected to start moving into Olio in Officer later this year, with moderate income families and first home buyers among the first who will call Olio home.
The project underlines Development Victoria’s commitment to increase housing supply and address affordability issues in growth suburbs such as Officer.
“Olio represents a fantastic opportunity for moderate income families and first home buyers to purchase a home in an emerging suburb, with convenient access to open space, schools, public transport and a wide range of future services,” said Development Victoria’s Group Head Housing, Penny Forrest.
“We have a strong reputation of creating residential communities across Melbourne like Riverwalk in the city’s west and Habitas Aurora in the north.
We are committed to making home ownership possible for more Victorians and creating places where people can live, work, play and relax.
The Olio Officer development will set a benchmark in sustainable living with a range of inclusions as standard, and all homes in the future Stage 2 including a 7-star energy rating, double glazed windows and solar panels.
This means these architecturally designed homes will require less energy to heat and cool, reducing residents’ carbon footprints and, importantly, their energy bills.
But it’s not only the townhouses that are progressing - works are also well advanced on what will become the recreational drawcard for the development, Olio Park.
Positioned in the centre of Olio, the park is designed to become a focal point for its community featuring a playground with plenty of choices for the kids, plus a sheltered barbeque and kickabout area.
Olio Park will allow families to gather and enjoy the extension of their home on the edge of Gum Scrub Creek. Melbourne-based contractor Super Gardens is building the park and it’s expected to be open in September.
Homes in Stage 2 are now selling so visit the Olio website for more information.
