Development Victoria is increasing housing supply and community spaces in Melbourne’s south-east with the first of 200 new homes ready for residents to move in, and a new one-acre community park now complete.
Olio Officer will deliver a range of two, three and four-bedroom townhouses, built by Sienna Homes, close to a future town centre and community spaces.
As part of Stage 1 Olio, a new community park has been created in the centre of the new development. Olio Park is designed to become a focal point for the community featuring a playground, a sheltered barbeque and kickabout area. The park was built by Melbourne based contractor Super Gardens.
On Sunday 10 December, over 180 members of the Officer community came together to welcome the first residents to Olio-Officer in the new Olio Park with a free community event.
The open space is one of the many features attracting people to Olio, including the newly revitalised Gum Scrub Creek. Development Victoria was instrumental in the rejuvenation of the creek, delivering an environment that supports the regeneration of local wildlife and plant species.
A key feature of Olio is Development Victoria’s Priority Access program which offers eligible moderate-income earners an opportunity to buy affordable homes before they are made available to the public.
Sales for Stage 2 of Olio commenced earlier this year, with a new release of homes now on sale.
All homes in Stage 2 are 7-star energy rated, all-electric and have been designed to maximise energy efficiency through a range of standard sustainable inclusions. These include double glazed/laminated windows (depending on design and location), 3kW solar PV systems and heat pump hot water services. This means they will require less energy to heat and cool, reducing residents’ carbon footprints and energy bills.
Development Victoria’s Group Head of Housing Penny Forrest said: “This project underlines our commitment to increase housing supply and affordability to support sustainable growth in Melbourne’s south-east.
Olio provides a fantastic opportunity for moderate income families and first home buyers to purchase an energy-efficient home in an emerging suburb, with convenient access to open space, schools, public transport and a wide range of future services.
