New leadership role at Development Victoria

Development Victoria is pleased to announce the appointment of Joanne Wandel into the newly created role of Chief Development Officer.

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, Angela Skandarajah, this role will head up the teams leading the delivery of our projects, and be charged with identifying and creating new project opportunities.

The new role has been established to support Development Victoria continuing to deliver on its purpose to transform and create places that enrich people’s lives. 

It also ensures the organisation is well-positioned to contribute to the key objectives of the Victorian Government’s Housing Statement, which has a target of building 800,000 homes in Victoria over the next decade. 

Development Victoria’s Chief Executive Officer, Angela Skandarajah said the new role forms part of an organisation restructure which will allow us to continue to maximise community outcomes from our projects, with strong alignment across delivery divisions.

“We are delighted that Joanne has accepted the opportunity to lead our delivery and creation teams during this important period,” she said.

A crucial aspect of the role will be leveraging partnerships across the public and private sector to identify new business opportunities and partnerships to deliver on government policy and meet community needs. 

Ms Wandel brings a wealth of leadership and experience to the role and was most recently Development Victoria’s Group Head Regional Infrastructure Program.

In a career spanning almost three decades leading construction and major projects in the public and private sector, Joanne has led some of Victoria’s largest public infrastructure, urban renewal and housing projects.

This includes the delivery of social and affordable housing at Homes Victoria, the City of Melbourne’s largest capital works program to revitalise the Queen Victorian Market and delivery of the Melbourne Docklands project.
