The Ballarat West Employment Zone (BWEZ) is continuing its journey to become the engine room for jobs and economic growth in Ballarat with the arrival of Findlay Engineering.
Findlay Engineering was established in 1987 as a four-man engineering business situated in Ballarat, providing expert machining, design and fabrication, supplying to various national brands.
In 2019, Findlay Engineering acquired Lot 2 of Stage 1B in BWEZ. Stage one construction has begun for a new facility for OzValue Ag Machinery – a member of the Findlay group of companies.
The OzValue Ag Machinery facility is 3000 square metres of office and workshop facilities and will accelerate the company’s growth through increasing workshop manufacturing and assembly capabilities, allowing the space for extra staff, as well as being able to have products on display in the new display yard.
This first stage is expected to be completed by mid-2024, followed by the second stage – the construction of a 5000-square metre engineering facility and office complex for Findlay Engineering, due for completion at the end of 2024.
Once completion of both Stage 1 and 2 have been achieved, it is expected that Findlay Engineering will create a workforce of more than 90 full time equivalent employees on site.
BWEZ is a $30 million joint initiative between the Victorian Government and the City of Ballarat to support the region's economic growth.
The 438-hectare project involves the development of surplus Crown land for industrial, wholesale, logistics, construction, commercial and residential uses, encouraging employment growth in Ballarat and the surrounding region.
