Junction Square

Development Victoria is progressing with the selection of developers to take the Junction Place project forward.

Developers were asked to submit proposals addressing their plans for the site, which are currently being assessed for suitability.

Development Victoria’s Group Head Precincts Niall Cunningham said a robust process had been followed to ensure alignment between proposals and the vision.

“Throughout 2023, we have run a multi-stage process aimed at finding the most suitable developers for the five available sites,” Mr Cunningham said.

“This has been a complex process, as we need to balance community aspirations for the precinct while ensuring the viability of the developers and proposals submitted.

“We are pleased with the response from the Request for Proposal stage and we are now finalising our assessment with a view to appointing developer(s) by mid-year.”

We look forward to working with our chosen developers, Wodonga Council and community to achieve the best outcomes for the precinct.

Junction Place is Australia’s largest regional urban renewal initiative that has the potential to double the size of Wodonga’s CBD, delivering quality community spaces, and a mix of retail, entertainment, commercial and residential developments.

The project has the potential to create more than 1,000 local jobs and boost economic growth in the northern Victorian city.

More than $30 million has already been invested by the Victorian and Federal Governments along with the City of Wodonga to restore and repurpose Junction Place’s historic railway station and goods shed into restaurants and cafes and delivered public spaces including the Promenade, Junction Square, Sidings Park and Richardson Park.

Development Victoria is delivering the Junction Place precinct in partnership with the City of Wodonga.
