Redeveloping Wodonga's former railway precinct

The opportunity to redevelop the historic railway precinct and help revitalise the centre of Victoria’s fastest growing regional city arose following the relocation of rail services from central Wodonga in June 2011.

Development Victoria has put in place a master plan to turn the empty railway land into the new heart of central Wodonga over the next 15 to 20 years. The master plan draws on community consultation and planning previously undertaken by the City of Wodonga and VicTrack, and includes a mix of homes, shops, public open space, cafes and restaurants, as well as opportunities for retail, entertainment and commercial development.

The Junction Place project is an exciting urban renewal initiative bringing new life to the former historic railway station and rail yards in central Wodonga. The project will double the size of Wodonga’s central business district and bring new life to the city centre.

Junction Place is regional Australia’s largest urban renewal project. Development Victoria is developing Junction Place with a number of key stakeholders including the City of Wodonga and Regional Development Victoria.
